INSIDER INTERNATIONAL TRADE AWARDS 2018   Wide range of firms recognised for international trade A DNA testing specialist, a developer of maritime technologies and the company behind a floating exercise mat are among the businesses to have been recognised for their global prowess at the fifth South West International Trade Awards. South West Business Insider editor David Clensy said there is “no doubt” that companies in the region are “stepping up” overseas trade. “South West exports rose by 8.8 per cent to £20.8bn for the year ending March 2018, according to the latest HMRC figures,” he added. “The region outstripped the national average of 6.5 per cent growth in exports of goods across England. The South West is now home to more than 8,400 exporters, with an average value of £638,000 per exporter. There is a clear demand for South West goods across the globe, which shows no sign of slowing down.” The awards ceremony took place at Mercure Bristol Grand and was compered by Hugh Ferris.
